Course 4: Introduction to Rectal Examinations, Male Health, and Gut Health
Saturday 24 July 2021, 9:30am to 5:00pm
Kinloch, Taupo, New Zealand

$340 including GST for the one-day course.
The focus of the course is learning how to do internal rectal examinations safely and competently.

If you are already treating female patients, a review of your internal vaginal examination skills will be included to ensure you are assessing the pelvic area competently.

If you only wish to treat males, you can complete this course to gain competence in internal rectal examinations.

Basic information on pelvic floor dysfunctions (male only), faecal incontinence, gut health, and bowel conditions (constipation, IBS, SIBO, leaky gut, intolerances & allergies) will be introduced.

The course is very clinically orientated and will give you the ability to be confident in your ability to assess the pelvic floor via internal rectal examinations for both females and males.

Aims:
  • To advance participants' basic knowledge of common conditions related to male health, the bowel, and how to assess the pelvic floor muscles via internal rectal examination.
  • Provide clinical guidance on integrating this knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Provide practical examination tools and clinical tools that participants can use immediately on return to the clinical environment.
Presenter:

Participants:
  • Limited course numbers.
  • Both female and male participants are welcome.
  • Open to registered health professionals operating within their Board's scope of practice guidelines.
Additional details:
  • Morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea will be provided. If you have specific food requirements or allergies, we recommend you bring your own food with you.
  • As this is a practical course which involves learning how to complete internal examinations, participants must be willing and able to have vaginal and/or rectal examinations done on them by fellow attendees. We will ensure the environment is private and supportive.
  • Participants must also be willing to allow both female and male participants to examine them (if male participants wish to attend the course). Men’s health is just as important as women’s health and this course allows both females and males an opportunity to learn from each other and gain vital, practical clinical skills.
  • There will be practical assessments during the course testing clinical assessment skills learned to ensure at the end of the course you are competent.
  • The course is held in Melissa's home in Kinloch. Accommodation may be available in a shared self-contained unit on site.
  • Please note: As this Kinloch course is being held in Melissa's house, there will be two black Labrador dogs (Ripley & Strider) who will be present, and who will want to interact with participants. If this is going to be an issue for you, I suggest attending this course in a different location.
